Shockwave Logo
Mach is Dave’s middle name and his mom’s maiden name. It’s the unit of measurement for the speed of sound, named after physicist Ernst Mach (no relation as far as we know). The MachMachines logo is inspired by Mach’s famous photo of the shockwaves created by a bullet traveling at supersonic speed. It also looks like a pick on strings.
The MachMachines logo was designed by Kristen Althoff, a Chicago-based graphic designer.
Vester the Masquatch
(sasquatch meets mascot)
Vester is a beast of the beautiful forest and minder of the music machine. A distant Showalter relative, he is Dave’s 20th cousin 200 times removed. Long ago relocated from the medieval forests of Switzerland to Thatcher Woods, he occasionally wanders into Illinois’ first municipal arboretum (aka Oak Park) to try a new instrument. An elusive creature, you are most likely to spot him on your favorite t-shirt.
Vester was designed by Ryan Duggan, a Chicago-based illustrator and concert poster artist.
