Dave’s Take: I started making this model because, as a jazz player, I disliked the heavy jazz boxes and wanted something lightweight that could double as a rock guitar. This particular build was made to display in the Vintage Amps Podcast Room at the 2025 Fretboard Summit at Old Town School of Folk Music, and was subsequently featured in the MachMachines exhibit at the 2026 Fretboard Summit. This is the fourth variation on this particular design that I’ve built, and it remains a fan favorite for its tonal quality, light weight, and playability.
